The Game is back on the streets.

The L.A. rapper is free after just serving eight days of his 60 day sentence in a Los Angeles County jail for pulling a gun out on someone during a baseball game early last year.

The rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was released from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility at 11:44pm Sunday night, according to the L.A. County Sherriff’s Department.

The Game turned himself in on March 3rd and begun serving his time after pleading no contest last month to a felony count of possession of a firearm in a school zone. The Game copped the plea in exchange for having two other charges dropped: making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a peace officer.

R&B singer Usher ended rapper Flo Rida's 10-week reign on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart Thursday as his new single posted the third-largest jump to the top in the survey's 50-year history.

"Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy soared 50 places to No. 1, powered by 198,000 downloads -- the largest first-week sum since Sean Kingston shifted 260,000 downloads last July. The track, Usher's eighth No. 1, is from his new album, "Here I Stand," due in June.

The record for the longest leap was set by pop group Maroon 5 last May when "Makes Me Wonder" jumped 63 places; in 2002, Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" rose 51 places.

So word has it that the social network giant Facebook has contacted the major labels in attempt to launch a music networking service.

Sources close to the matter state, that the talks are very "preliminary" and come on the wake of bigger social network MySpace's talks with labels.

Privately owned Facebook and the four majors - Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and EMI Group - were not available for comment in these matters.

A New York judge has barred the "Put It On Me" emcee from ponying up thousands of dollars in bail on behalf of two codefendants in his weapons possession case.

Per published reports, State Supreme Court Justice Micki Sherer explained her decision to Ja Rule's camp at an indictment arraignment on Wednesday.

She noted the potential conflict of interest that could arise if the hip-hopster is allowed to foot the hefty bonds for Dennis Cherry, his road manager, and Mohamed Gamal, his limo driver, who were riding with him when he was pulled over in Manhattan on July 22 for speeding following a concert with Lil Wayne.

Eminem is about to lose himself with his word processor.

The rap megastar, who has chronicled his turbulent life on his albums and the film 8 Mile, is now cranking out an autobiography, his U.K.-based publisher revealed Friday—to the chagrin of the hip-hopster's camp.

Titled Eminem: The Way I Am, the memoir is scheduled to arrive in book stores in Great Britain on Oct. 16, according to a statement from the Orion Publishing Group.

When Snoop Dogg hit CNN's "Larry King Live" February 1, the segment may have brought into focus everything that's working for the rapper-turned-singer these days.

For starters, his electro-funk, '80s-influenced new hit, "Sensual Seduction," played in the background as Snoop took the talk show host to the Los Angeles hangout Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles.

The track is shaping into one of the fastest-climbing crossover hits of his career. After just 14 weeks on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, "Seduction" resides at No. 8, and claims the No. 7 rung on the Hot 100. Island Def Jam Music Group has launched the first-ever label-centric mobile subscription service in a deal with mobile and online media company Flycell.

IDJ Mobile will offer subscribers exclusive online and mobile content, including ringtones, graphics and games, along with label news, artist mobile blogs and sweepstakes for backstage concert passes and other prizes.

The service launched yesturday (Feb. 20) with exclusive ringtones and other content from Kanye West -- its first flagship artist. IDJ plans to add content from Rihanna in the next week.

IDJ will be available for $9.99 a month to mobile customers of Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Virgin Mobile, Boost, Alltel, Cellular One, Metro PCS and Suncom.
