Interview By Big Drew (http://www.str8hiphop.com/user/52262)

SHH: Let's set this interview off by talking about the new mix tape DJ Rebel presents... The Only Movement moving hosted by Tom Gist...

Tom Gist: Mix tape is crazy, mix of Dipset songs with some exclusives from me. brought some of my homies along with me on it, the streets are buzzing, it's cooking right now.

SHH: what does the name Robert early mean to you?

Tom Gist: It means loyalty, friendship, and business. Wouldn’t be where I am without that man (no homo).

SHH: if you were to give an up and coming emcee one piece of advice...what would it be?

Tom Gist: invest in yourself. Nobody is giving out money and project control like that. Be your own boss and open minded.

SHH: name 3 incredible emcees in the game right now...

Tom Gist: André 3000, Eminem, Tom Gist

SHH: If a producer asked you "what type of beats are you looking for?" How would you describe the type of beats you like to rhyme on?

Tom Gist: Emotional, those always grab me and for the record I hate that fucking question.

SHH: I see you have been doing some songs with Carmon lately...why you don’t tell the people how you two met...

Tom Gist: we met because of my homie tobe. He gave Killa one of my independent releases and he reached out. Killa is one of the realest dudes I know, I’m in a good spot right now.

SHH: one thing I know about you personally is your all about good business...and if you ask me that is a key ingredient to making it in this business...that and good music...so what good music can the world expect to hear from Tom Gist in the near future?

Tom Gist: I got a variety of quality music on deck I’m hoping the world will accept. I believe in the power of words and if you hear me with an honest ear I can entertain you.

SHH: name a couple of emcees in your opinion that do Harlem justice...

Tom Gist: Big L (R.I.P), Immortal Technique, Jae Millz, The Diplomats, they all due Harlem right.

SHH: I’m from upstate New York and up here there are a lot of dope emcees that people in Harlem haven't heard like awful P, Weegee, Krazy K, and Trek... I could go on and on... So why don't you name a couple of emcees we probably haven't ever heard of from Harlem who are sick with it...

Tom Gist: A Clay, Skippwize, Frank Gaudy, Mr. Meredith, Screwface, Fats, Bathgate, The Hotshotz, Whitebread... To name a few...

SHH: and with my last question I’m gonna keep it old school ..."got any shout-outs?"

Tom Gist: DJ Coco Chanelle, The Whole Dipset and Manhattanville Projects the only home I know...hear me?
