2006 TRASH BIN

2006 TRASH BIN
1. Kevin Federline – Playing With Fire: Sorry K Fed… Since Britney left you, your street pass has been revoked! Who told you can rap? Who told you to waste Scott Storch & JR Rotem’s production? Why are you so blatant about your gigolo status? Why did we even listen to this album? The list of questions speaks in volumes. Hands down the worst album of 2006.
2. Ron Artest – My World: Does every b-baller look at Shaq and say, “I can rap and play ball too!” Well Shaq does both pretty good. And when Ron is not suspended, he’s just aight on the court and when Ron is in the booth, it’s hot trash… Like Jay-Z said, “Men lie and women lie, but the numbers don’t.” With one unit sold (According to SoundScan) in the first week; this album was a silent flop. Not to mention the cliché raps and mediocre production on the album. YUCK…
3. Xzibit – Full Circle: Who told Xzibit to make another album? After his classic debut, defection from the Alkoholiks crew and then a brief and less than memorable stint with Dr. Dre- What makes Xzibit think he can just come back and rap again? He’s been fixing cars for a while now and he should stick to it! We still shed a tear over all the top notch Dre beats he wasted over the years… Now it’s come, “Full Circle.”
4. Chingy – Hoodstar: BDS spins out the butt for that single with Tyrese, but no SoundScan. Chingy suffers from what we call “Mainstream Meltdown.” Milk a hot single and then rush the album out to get numbers early. Well, historically this formula never works. And honestly there isn’t a record on this project that we can remember besides the first single. What a daam shame.
5. Young Dro – Best Thang Smokin’: Went from obscurity to T.I.’s right hand man in less then a year. Overall Dro isn’t terrible… Well besides taking fashion tips from a gay caddy… But his debut was more like a bad clone of a T.I. album rather than a stand alone debut. Not to say that his catchy “Shoulder Lean” song wasn’t a smash, but the follow up “Rubberband Banks” was a bit too rubbery for us to swallow. And since when do they make Diamonds in Tokyo?
6. Ying Yang Twins – Chemically Imbalanced: What year end trash bin would be complete without the brothers Ying & Yang?
7. Lady Sovereign – Public Warning: Is this one of Jay-Z’s misguided cues from his new homie Gwyneth Platrow? How did this young lady get a deal and major distribution in the states? She was pegged as a “UK/female version of Eminem” when she first popped up. We peg her as a terrible rapper. The accent was cute, but the music was hardly something we could stand for more than 10 mins.
8. LL Cool J – Todd Smith: Mr. Consistency has lost his way. Over all not his best effort, but the buzz was killed even more over his whining about his label status. LL got two budget breaking videos and more mainstream press then needed for a guy who’s sold millions already and he still put his label on blast. So maybe it was the music that wasn’t cutting it on this project L??? Just maybe… Let’s see if 2007 will fair differently for the G.O.A.T...
9. Bubba Sparxxx – The Charm: Bubba fell off the wagon with this record- “Ms. New Booty” indeed… This by far was his worst effort ever. Coming off a critically success sophomore album to this wasn’t a good look. It seemed like Bubba was after sales/radio spins on this and it didn’t work to his advantage.
10. Field Mob – Light Poles & Pine Trees & Shawnna – Block Music (TIE): Ludacris has tried for almost four years to get his crew some recognition, but to no avail… Field Mob’s career took a 180 degree turn when they signed to DTP and Shawnna (even with a smash record) couldn’t cut it on the mainstream for a second time. Talented people, but it looks like projects that Ludacris “co-signs” on lately seem to flop.
