Nickelus F - The Relapse Mixtape

Review By International Shaun (http://www.str8hiphop.com/user/50303)

Str8hiphop.com, Rayni Day Ent. & Authentic Music Group is proud to bring you Nickelus F’s The Relapse Mixtape for FREE!

Now clearly I’m going to be biased in critiquing this CD because Nickelus F is one of my favorite rappers already and our staff has been pumping his music for a very long time, so I’ll let you judge for yourself after you hear the tracks he has to offer on this release. I’m just going to give you my honest take on what I took from listening to this mixtape.

The Relapse mixtape was original a concept mixtape where Nickelus F was suppose rock over Dr. Dre beats with people like Young Hot Rod, Loaded Lux, Drake, Swigga Da Don and others, but scheduling and time constraints held up the project.
But with a little help from str8hiphop.com and up and coming artists Radio B, Lil Lee, Ricky Ruckus & Glueazy; The Relapse Mixtape has been completed and is here for the people. With the Dr. Dre vibe still intact and featured production from Conrizzle and Fusion Unlimited this is one of the best mixtapes to come out this Fall.

Highlights include the energetic “Brooklyn Zoo” and “You Already Know” freestyles where nick’s rapid fire flow hits the haters harder than a clip from an AK-47. Nickelus F also resurrects beats from Hip Hop’s underground golden age and rips Cage’s “Radiohead” and “Agent Orange” beats with his own twist on how these beats should be rocked.

Nick gets deep and gritty with street narratives like “Walkin’ Funny” and the retrospective songs like “Some Kinda Way” featuring a stunning performance from Swigga Da Don and gets real personal in “My Life” featuring North Carolina’s Glueazy.

What really makes this tape a winner though is the original music. Nick is truly a gifted lyricist and crafts some jaw dropping material with “Raise The Bar” produced by Fusion and “AK-47” produced by Conrizzle. The two joints only give you a taste of what he really has to offer as an artist and make you hungry for more.

On a scale of 5 I give this a 4.5/5 because I was left wanting more and have to wait for it now!

Seriously though… Don’t sleep on this dude because he’s got next and from the way Hip Hop is looking now, the people need something this fresh to keep it alive.
