SHH: Where are you from?
Young Swift: I am from Ohio, from the city of Toledo aka the Glass City, born and raised.
SHH: What’s the hip hop scene like over there?
Young Swift: It needs to be taken over; as much as I love my city in opinion it has no direction. A lot of rappers are all over the place. No one has really made a strong impact where I’m from, I think that is why it is a slow movement over here, and I guess I will have to change that, but overall I wouldn’t come from anywhere else. Ohio stand up!!!
SHH: When did you feel you wanted to start a career in music?
Young Swift: It had to be around ‘98 back in Junior High, computer software was really poppin’ so I started re-recording LL Cool J songs on the computer, then started producing. I didn’t start to take rap from a serious standpoint until around 2000.
SHH: What artists influence your music if any?
Young Swift: A lot of underground rappers first off, industry wise, Joe Budden, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, TI, Redman as of right now that is all I can think of. Right now hip hop has kind of brainwashed me sad to say.
SHH: How would you describe your style/sound to the people?
Young Swift: I sound like an African beating on a steel drum… (Laughs) Nah I would like to say I am a mixture, since I am from Ohio I sound Midwest with an east coast/ down south swagger. I mean I don’t pop lock and drop it, but I always try to keep my music animated and very creative. Also since I produce I think it helps me out a lot because it gives me a much better ear and also how to body a track better.
SHH: What are you working on right now?
Young Swift: Right now I am in the process of working on music, music, music, and networking I am trying to meet so many good people to work out a great situation for myself. So basically just making beats, songs, and looking for a few features.
SHH: What's your outlook for 2007 (What are your goals for the year)?
Young Swift: My goals are to stay humble and raise the level; I always analyze myself and realize I don’t work as hard as I can. Basically I will be pushing myself even more because right now I feel that my work ethic is letting some people down so I think it’s time to body everything that I touch.
SHH: What producers are you working with?
Young Swift: Myself, Ron Browz, DeNon Porter, Turf Boy Entertainment (Lenny S. from Rocafella records is their management) I would like to work with though… Dub B (Joe Budden's producer), Pollow Da Don, Danja and a lot more…So producers speak at me!!!
SHH: Who would you like to work with in the future?
Young Swift: Man… Anyone who feels that they WANT to benefit me, I have learned it is always good to do songs with people for credibility but I feel that if you can’t make a song on your own, you need to stop rapping or doing whatever it is that you do. But real talk if someone wants to help me its whatever.
SHH: What do you feel separates you from the next artist trying to make it in rap?
Young Swift: Ahhh I couldn’t wait for this question. What makes me different, well I feel I know how to make a record and I know who I am as a rapper. A lot of cats fabricate a lot of their lifestyle, and in my views at the end of the day you don’t really gain respect as a person. I have been there and done that and gained more respect from being myself than lying about what I don’t do. Some people still yet have to understand that about me. I don’t want to change to sell a record. And I am also a triple threat, I sing, rap and produce.
SHH: If not music what would you be doing?
Young Swift: If I wasn’t doing music, I would be doing what I am doing now, the school thing. I know I would have too much time on my hands though, but I wouldn’t give up music for anything so I am happy where I am at.
SHH: Where can people check out some of your music?
Young Swift: People can check out my music at www.myspace.com/therealmainef, that’s the most updated music, also remember I am a producer also so speak at me if you need that crackola!!!
SHH: Any last words for the people in closing?
Young Swift: I thank God for my opportunity to make great music…Shout out to everyone in my circle, Gee, Thanks, Tempest, Kase, T.Lin and the rest of my Team CEO fam (Too many cats to name), Waka fam, Drake and Kid from Protégé Fam, 800 T.R.US.T, Young Spade from Hustle Hand, Buddy Mylez from BXL, Bei Maejor, just everyone who is supporting my campaign…If I forgot you just let me know…Uno, Swift remember the name!!!! www.myspace.com/therealmainef
